Dion Johnson (b. 1975, Bellaire, OH) is a painter based in Los Angeles, CA. Born in Bellaire, OH, he attended Yale Norfolk Summer School of Music and Art in 1996, received his BFA from The Ohio State University in 1997, and earned his MFA from Claremont Graduate University in 2000. Johnson has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States. In 2023, he co-curated Two of Us: Dion Johnson and Michael Reafsnyder at Contemporary Art Matters, Columbus, OH. Recent solo exhibitions include Keller Gallery at Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, CA; L.A. Louver, Venice, CA; Western Project, Los Angeles, CA; Bentley Gallery, Phoenix, AZ; De Buck Gallery, New York, NY; and Holly Johnson Gallery, Dallas, TX. His work has also been featured in group exhibitions at Contemporary Art Matters, Columbus, OH; Scott Richards Contemporary Art, San Francisco, CA; PRJCTLA, Los Angeles, CA; L.A. Louver, Venice, CA; Bentley Gallery, Phoenix, AZ; and Holly Johnson Gallery, Dallas, TX. His work has been reviewed and featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Artnews, and Artforum, among others. In 2024, Johnson created a site-specific wall installation, Information Exchange, for the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus, OH. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Columbus Museum of Art, Columbus, OH; Twitter, Inc., Santa Monica, CA; Capital Group Companies, Los Angeles, CA; Museum of Art and History, Lancaster, CA; Creative Artists Agency, Los Angeles, CA; and the Pizzuti Collection, Columbus, OH.
