Sullivan
Billy Sullivan (b. 1946, New York, NY) is a painter and photographer who divides his time between studios in New York City and East Hampton. Sullivan attended the High School of Art and Design and received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. He has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. In 2025, his work was included in LITHOS LETHE at Hydra School Projects, Hydra, Greece, and in Mercie! John Giorno at Almine Rech, Paris. In 2023, he presented two solo exhibitions: Dog Days of Summer at Timothy Taylor, New York, NY, and Studio Visit at Kaufmann Repetto, New York, NY. That same year, his work was featured in the group exhibition Friends & Lovers at The Flag Art Foundation, New York, NY. Sullivan has exhibited at venues including The Madoo Conservancy, Long Island, NY; The Flag Art Foundation, New York, NY; and the Addison Gallery of American Art, Andover, MA. Sullivan’s work is in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Parrish Art Museum, The Detroit Institute of Arts, The New Orleans Museum of Art, The Norton Museum of Art (West Palm Beach, FL), The Portland Museum of Art (Portland, ME), and The Denver Art Museum, as well as many other public and private collections. His work has been reviewed and featured in Artforum, La Repubblica, The East Hampton Star, Blau, The New Yorker, Flash Art, and many other publications.
