Pamela Jorden’s approach to her art is the perfect balance of casual and studied. She draws from a long history of abstract painting and, as with many California-based artists, is acutely attentive to the qualities of light. Her works are alive with energy, tactility, and bursts of gestural abstraction.

The paintings are influenced by her day-to-day surroundings; she often uses her observations of changing light during the day, the shifting of perspectives as one moves through space, and the densely layered appearance of the Los Angeles landscape stacked and compressed in haze and smog.

Pamela Jorden is based in Los Angeles, California. Born in 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee, she attended California Institute of the Arts for her MFA. Jorden has had solo exhibitions at Mason Gross Art Gallery at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ; Romer Young Gallery, San Francisco, CA; Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA; and Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery, New York, NY. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Pizzuti Collection, Columbus, OH; Irvine Fine Arts Center, Irvine, CA; Torrance Art Museum, Torrance, CA; and Bronx River Art Center, Bronx, NY, among other institutions.
