Ghuloum
Rema Ghuloum (b. 1978, North Hollywood, CA) is a painter based in Los Angeles, CA. She received her BFA from California State University, Long Beach, CA, in 2007, and her MFA from California College of the Arts, San Francisco, CA, in 2010. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the U.S. and abroad in Japan, Canada, and Russia. Recent solo exhibitions include Atmospheres, Philip Martin Gallery, Los Angeles, CA, 2024; When the Day is Done, DeBoer Gallery, Antwerp, Belgium, 2024; 4 is a Rainbow Line, Et al., San Francisco, CA, 2023; and Last Light, Contemporary Art Matters, Columbus, OH, 2022. Recent group exhibitions include Affirmations: Mindfulness in Contemporary Abstract Painting, curated by Roman Stollenwerk, Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art, Rancho Cucamonga, CA, 2025; Always the Sun, Library Street Collective, Detroit, MI, 2024; Abstraction – Group Show, Taymour Grahne Projects, London, England, 2023; Unrequited Love, Nathalie Karg, New York, NY, 2023; The Angels, Baik Art, Seoul, Korea, 2023; a two-person exhibition, NADA NY, Et al., New York, NY, 2023; and I Am the Passenger, Mother Gallery, Beacon, NY, 2023. Her work has been reviewed and featured in Artforum, Hyperallergic, The Los Angeles Times, and other publications. Ghuloum has been the recipient of numerous grants and residencies, including the Davyd Whaley Artist-Teacher Grant; the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant; an artist residency at the Joan Mitchell Center; and the Vermont Studio Center. She has been a visiting artist and lecturer within the California State University system, at the California College of the Arts, and at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
